The Green Gallery presents Nicholas FrankNARRATOR, a set of narrative constructs embedded within an overall narrative construct, the exhibition itself.
A set of six paintings that are each different states of each other; a letter about this painting set; a long short story set in a fictional northern Wisconsin city; and a story inside a house inside a photograph.
Frank has most recently shown in “Picturing the Studio,” curated by Michelle Grabner and Annika Marie, in the Sullivan Galleries of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; had a solo show “Reality, whatever that is…” at Western Exhibitions in Chicago; participated in group shows at Tanzschule in Munich, Small A Projects in New York and Angstrom in Los Angeles; and co-organized the Dark Fair at the Kölnischer Kunstverein in Cologne with the Milwaukee International group. He is one of 42 artists to be featured in the upcoming Wisconsin Triennial 2010 at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, and is slated to show at the Poor Farm in Manawa, Wisconsin in autumn 2010. He has shown several times at the Green Gallery West, this is his first show at the Green Gallery East.
