The Green Gallery is pleased to present a series of artists from our program for this year’s NADA Miami. Featured will be Peter Barrickman, Mari Eastman, Michelle Grabner, Dominique Knowles, Margaret Lee, and Trevor Shimizu. Works from these artists represent a range of tendencies present within the contemporary landscape.
Grabner, Lee, and Shimizu, negotiate formalist tendencies to comment on conditions of the present. Grabner thinks through the value of labor via her serial practice investigating grid structures found in woven fabric. Lee’s recent work nods to the history of abstraction affected through stark black and white paintings. Shimizu’s Scrap paintings suggest a yearning for sustainability through their recycling of cast off materials
Barrickman, Eastman and Knowles, use figurative imagery to build pictures that teeter between representation and abstraction. Barrickman’s stacked and layered compositions negotiate the pictureplane with idiosyncratic maneuvering. Eastman nods to popular culture and fashion with whimsical strokes and lightness of touch. Knowles renders the landscape with a discerning palate to posit metaphors of yearning, desire, and loss.
We hope you can join us in Booth 9.09 from Wednesday, November 30th through Saturday, December 3rd.
